Salute to the Marines is a 1943 World War II movie starring Wallace Beery. The movie, set in the Philippines and shot in color (in Hollywood), was directed by S. Sylvan Simon. It is a comic book propaganda film which has Berry as a retired USMC NCO-who when the Japanese attack the Philippines-leads a heroic defense first by strangling a Nazi agent and then dies in his dress blues uniform while blowing up a bridge.
