Amsterdam-Noord Explained

Amsterdam-Noord (English: Amsterdam-North) is an autonomous stadsdeel (borough) of Amsterdam. The area is located north of the IJ, the body of water which separates it from central Amsterdam and the rest of the city.

Transport

The area's severance from the rest of the Amsterdam conurbation means it is not served by tram or metro, although this will change with the opening of the North-South line in 2012, however bus services run through the three road tunnels, and passenger ferries also cross over the IJ.
